Time and time again I’ve witnessed that when a person gives their idea some time and space to spread its wings, they realize that they are so much closer to it than they’d thought. Listed a new video on YouTube (#linkinbio) where I share a behind-the-scenes look at one of the latest Whiteboard Sessions. If you’ve been curious to know more about how they work, what the whiteboards end up looking like and how an idea gets activated through a WBS coaching partnership this is a good one to watch.
My favorite metaphors inspired by real coaching partnerships. I ❤️ them. (That snack plate came up yesterday during a #whiteboardsession and it’s one of my FAVES). A super fun moment with any client is when we stumble upon the perfect metaphor to represent their current circumstance or story. It allows us to see everything more clearly, strip away some of the hot emotions, and use simpler ideas and pictures to capture a complex situation. It becomes a central theme and idea around which we can co-create solutions, new ideas, and next steps. What’s your metaphor of choice?
Whatever it is you can’t stop thinking about, whatever you’re finding inspiration in, whatever adventure or evolution or shift you keep ruminating over — that idea has a gift to give you. A lesson to teach. An opportunity to show you more about who you are and what you’re capable of. It goes deeper than your fear. Deeper than whatever stuckness you may feel mired in. Know that there is a reason.
Tomorrow marks the start of school for my kiddos, which also means the start of a new coaching season for me. My calendar is full this week and, for the first time in almost three months, I’ll be operating with some more routine and structure around my schedule. At the same time I’m also leaping towards a big goal - the #100ideasproject - and everything that comes with that: new connections, discovery calls, whiteboard sessions, client partnerships, sharing, celebrating, snail mail packages, intention.... #allthethings // With everything going on I viscerally recognize the importance of setting quiet time aside every morning to get clear on my day ahead and intentional about my timing and focus, as well as in the afternoon to reflect on my work day before the kids get home and I shift in to home/family mode. I recognize the need to SCHEDULE these pauses at the start and end of each day in order for them to become habitual. I encourage you to do the same, especially if you — like me — have many projects and priorities in the air.
